The mission of the Affirmative Action Department is to ensure the Authority's compliance with Article 15a which requires state agencies to award a portion of their contracts to certified minority and woman owned businesses. The Affirmative Action Department alerts qualified MWBE's to contract opportunities with both the Authority and its tenant developers. It also provides education workshops and certification assistance to MWBE's that meet New York State requirements.
The mission of the Community Relations Department is to be sensitive and responsive to relevant external issues. This includes maintaining a positive working relationship with government agencies, the press, businesses, civic, and residential neighboring communities.
The mission of the Development Department is to support the build-out of Battery Park City as per the Authority's Master Plan and Green Guidelines. The Department works to ensure that all work shall adhere to the highest standards and result in a physical development that provides to its residents, workers, and tourists an environment that is safe, structurally sound, environmentally sustainable, and of the aesthetic level set out for all development in Battery Park City.
The Executive oversees the day-to-day operations of the Authority to ensure that Battery Park City continues to be built according to the approved 1979 Master Plan, utilizing the latest high-performance environmental designs and sustainable practices to create a model mixed use community which exemplifies excellence in architecture and urban planning while also reflecting the public interest.
The mission of the Finance Department is to safeguard company assets, and provide for an efficient, controlled environment consistent with the Authority's goals.
The mission of the Human Resources Department is to ensure that the Authority's staff needs are met in a timely and cost effective manner; to fully assist management in uncovering the potential of employees who comprise their departments; and offer a variety of benefits to those employees as part of an integrated, appropriate compensation package.
Internal Auditing is an independent appraisal activity established within the Authority to examine and evaluate its activities. The objectives of Internal Auditing are to assist members of the organization in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by furnishing them with analyses, appraisals, recommendations, counsel, and information concerning the activities reviewed, and by promoting effective control at a reasonable cost.
The mission of the Legal Department is to provide legal service as required to all departments, and to coordinate the RFP and Lease development process for uncompleted sites.
The mission of the Operations Department is to ensure smooth flow of Authority operations -including back office support - for Human Resources, Site Safety and Community Relations activities.
The mission of the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy is to operate the 35 acres of parks and public space within Battery Park City. The parks and gardens are maintained without the use of chemical pesticide and kept open to the public at no cost to the City of New York.
The mission of the Planning and Design department is to facilitate the development of Battery Park City as an integrated New York City neighborhood, to ensure design excellence in all of Battery Park City's undertakings and to exploit Battery Park City's ability to serve as a crucible to test new ideas, such as green architecture.
The mission of the Safety & Site Management Department is to ensure that Battery Park City is safe for all of its users, including: the general public, development / construction activity groups, and the business / residential communities. Additionally, this department provides the linkage between the Authority and essential services, such as Police, Fire Department, Hospitals, etc. The department is also responsible for acquiring all Municipal approvals to assure compliance with crowd control guidelines, such as the Public Assembly Permit.
The mission of the Special Projects Department is to showcase the many achievements Battery Park City Authority has attained through its public/private partnerships. As a result of these initiatives Battery Park City has emerged as a world-class civic, cultural, commercial and recreational destination.
